Poster and Print Info . . .

You can order a high-quality poster or print of any image you see in the Gallery. Just specify the size you want, tell us whether you want your print to include text, caption information and/or GPS coordinates, whether you want it in color or black & white, enter any special instructions you want to give us, click "Add to Cart" and enter your credit card info - that's all there is to it!

A poster or a print?
If you do not specify, we print all images plain, without any text or other additions. The image is centered on the paper and occupies something over half the total surface area of the paper. In practice (depending upon how the image is cropped; panoramics will not adhere to these sizes), this usually works out to an image size of:
  • 6 x 9 inches - 8.5 x 11 inch print
  • 10 x 15 inches - 13 x 19 print
In the sample poster at right, you can see what differentiates a print from a poster. FIrst, there is a fine 1-point black rule around the image which brackets the title information below the image area and accommodates the caption information above the image area. Visually, the rule and the caption seem to blend, making it quite unobtrusive. For the geography-minded, GPS coordinates can be added below the title. If there is another title you'd like to have instead of the obvious one we'd use, you can tell us what you'd like the poster title to read in the "Special Instructions" box on the print order page.

How are the images printed?
All images, regardless of size, are printed on a Canon Pixma 9000 Pro inkjet printer using archival Chromalife 100 inks and compatible, high-quality printing papers from reliable manufacturers. Unless specified otherwise, paper surface will be 'lustre' or 'semi-gloss'.

How are the images shipped?
All images are rolled and shipped in a heavy-duty 3" tube by USPS, unless specified otherwise. Additional shipping charges may apply.

How long will the prints last?
The longevity that you can expect from a print is based on many factors such as printer, media, printed image, display conditions, light intensity, humidity, and atmospheric conditions. No one can guarantee how long a print will last, but suffice it to say that it will last longer in dark storage at the proper temperature and humidity than if it is hung on wall that gets brilliant sunlight most of the day. In any case, though, your posters/prints should look wonderful for a number of years, no matter how you treat them. The definitive research on print longevity is being done by Wilhelm Imaging Research, Inc., of Grinnell, Iowa. What if I need a larger print for my family room / office / barn / warehouse?
We'll be happy to accommodate your request for a larger print, but we'll need more time to make it happen since we will have to outsource the printing. If you have such a need, please Contact Us with the details and we'll work up a price quote for you.
